A hiker has been branded ‘selfish’ after refusing to give up a popular tourist spot for a couple about to get engaged.
The walker was about to indulge herself in a large picnic meal, while enjoying a ‘gorgeous’ lake view.
But five minutes into her hour-long ritual, she was asked to move by a camera man and a soon-to-be-engaged man.
After ignoring their pleas and putting in her headphones, the man was forced to pop the question at a less picturesque spot, further down the hill.
Posting the counter to the subreddit ‘Am I The A*****’, social media users are infuriated by the woman’s behaviour.

Explaining herself to the thread, she said: ‘One of my hobbies is to go hiking and eat a very large meal while sitting down. Basically a picnic for myself. I bring a blanket and anything else I might need for an hour-long experience.
‘I was about five minutes into my ritual when this guy with a camera comes and tells me that a couple was coming up to do a proposal on this very spot and asked me to move.’
But the hiker wouldn’t budge, instead telling the cameraman that she was in the middle of a meal.
A few minutes later, she said the photographer returned with the man proposing who also asksed her to move, to which she still responded with ‘no’.
She continues: ‘He asks me wtf is wrong with me and I just tell him that I am eating my meal. He starts yelling at me to gtfo but I put on my headphones and just continue eating. After a while he leaves me alone.’
Reddit users are infuriated, claiming the woman ruined a ‘once-in-a-lifetime moment’ when she could’ve easily packed up her meal
After finishing the meal, the woman said she felt ‘satisfied’ and began making her way down the hill.
She added: ‘The three were waiting at another spot and the men pointed me out and the lady starts yelling at me that I ruined her day and that the proposal happened elsewhere instead of the spot I was in.
‘I just smiled and said congrats on your proposal and kept walking.’
Upon returning home, the woman told her boyfriend and said: ‘He straight up said it was an a***** thing to do.’
The popular post has received thousands of comments unanimously agreeing that she was in the wrong.
One person wrote: ‘This is one of those cases where you’re technically not obliged to move, but why the f*** not when there’s a special event going to take place.’
Another person agreed: ‘I just can’t imagine not moving. And then purposefully sitting there, knowing you were ruining a once-in-a-lifetime event.
