Influencer shares tips for the perfect bikini shot – and a ‘wedgie’ is important
A journalist has exposed the secrets behind getting the perfect bikini shot.
Danae Mercer, a body positivity coach who has more than 2 million followers, shared several videos giving her fans a step-by-step guide.
In one clip, titled “how influencers pose on the beach”, she lies flat on her stomach on the sand.
She instructs viewers to “keep core tight” and to create a wedgie with bikini bottoms.
To finish, she jokes she “doesn’t breathe” and then rests her chin on her hand while facing the sun.
Danae used the instructional clips to urge people not to compare their bodies to the pictures seen online.
“Remember, online isn’t real,” she said. “And sitting comfortably is okay.”
In the caption, she added: “Here’s how influencers take beach photos. But also, just another reason to not compare your lovely, sun-bathing, swimsuit-wearing self to stuff you see online.
“Because my gosh so much of it is POSED. Popped. Angled and perfected. And real life beach days are a whole lot more fun than that.”
The footage, shared on January 2, has been liked more than 119,000 times and viewers flooded the comments section to thank Danae for the “reality check”.
“This is great,” one wrote. “Especially for the girls with eating disorders- I love this so much. Thank you for the reality check.”
Another commented: “I so appreciate how you say it can be fun to pose as part of this.
“No need to vilify people, and then at the same time reminding us all that it's not real and doesn't need to be part of our beach days.”
While a third simply said: “You are quite amazing.”
