Staycations have become the new norm in the UK, with a range of celebrities showing their dreamy breaks off on Instagram.

Amongst them is former TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh, who has whisked her son Roman away for a UK-based explore.

Lucy and her partner Ryan Thomas have taken the tot to London estate The Grove, and Ryan's daughter Scarlett has also accompanied them on the trip.

Discussing daddy duties and waking up to look after little Roman, Ryan penned: "There are worse places to wake up in the morning.

"The breakfast place isn't even open until 7am and I can't even get a coffee."

Ryan then panned the camera around to look at the views, however, as he broke into laughter.

Ryan also showed off a crying Roman after he threw all his toys from his pushchair.

"That's exactly how I feel mate," Ryan joked as he filmed his adorable son.

Meanwhile on the trip, the couple whisked their little one off to Whipsnade Zoo and Lucy stunned in a summery dress.

There is even a large swimming pool at the venue, which was packed with those looking to lap up the sun and make a splash.

The outdoor area had a sandpit, which Roman made the most of with a bucket and spade.

Lucy and Ryan enjoyed a delicious breakfast of spinach and feta baked eggs with chicken sausage, tomato, avocado and mushroom.

While they ate, Roman enjoyed a book named 'The Little Book of Safari Animal Sounds,' and he flashed a smile to the camera as he sat there.

Ever the stylish mum, Lucy snapped a mirror selfie while on the trip displaying her gorgeous get-up – shorts and a floral black and white top.

Ryan has been documenting the holiday on his Instagram too, including the family strolling around at the zoo, and they snapped a group photo with rolling hills in the background.

Raving about the UK, Ryan took a video of the hotel grounds while saying: "Our country is beautiful when the weather is good."

Lucy, who recently spoke on the realities of motherhood, looked stunning in a yellow frock and they strolled around the expansive hotel gardens, with Ryan enjoying a glass of red.

Clearly enjoying the sunshine, Lucy's family break away comes after she enjoyed a date outdoors with best pal Lydia Bright.

The two ex-TOWIE pals decided to go on a mummy day date together along with their one year old children, Roman, Lucy’s son, and Loretta, Lydia’s daughter.

The two besties were full of smiles and looked beautiful in their summery outfits; Lydia wearing a red and white check gingham dress paired with a straw hat, while Lucy donned a black and yellow off the shoulder floral top.

They tucked into a healthy looking lunch of chicken, avocado and mixed bean stew, while their babies also enjoyed a falafel, avocado, spinach and sweetcorn wrap.

In a video Lucy posted on her stories Roman could be seen particularly enjoying his wrap as he scooped some up in his fist before carefully placing it into his mouth.
