Moby sells New York home, plans to donate profits to charity

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Grammy-nominated musician Moby says he’s donating the profits from selling his home to his favorite causes.

The electronic-dance musician and animal-rights activist, whose real name is Richard Melville Hall, recently unloaded his midcentury modern home in Westchester County, New York, for $1.1 million

The New York-bred Moby, who leaped to mainstream stardom with his 1999 album “Play,” purchased the two-bedroom, three-bath house in Pound Ridge in March for $1.24 million. He announced his decision to sell it on Instagram this summer.

“It’s one of the most beautiful (midcentury modern) houses I’ve seen, but to be honest, I’m rarely there,” he wrote. “So I’m going to sell it and take the money to: support progressive political candidates, support my animal rights foundation, produce documentaries, and fund scholarships.”
