Nigella Lawson shares mouth-watering recipe for five-ingredient chocolate mousse

Are you looking for a recipe to sweeten up your Sunday afternoon?

Nigella Lawson, 60, is known for her food ideas and tips, which she shares on her website.

Now the culinary mastermind posted the method and ingredients to her tasty instant chocolate mousse.

So for this chocolate recipe, it requires just five ingredients and it's bound to jazz up your weekend for sure.

Her simple recipe serves 4-6 people – perfect for a family meal – and it's very easy to make.

Posting on her website, Nigella described it as "chocaliciously gorgeous" – and it's definitely got us licking our lips.

Ingredients:

  • 150g mini marshmallows
  • 50g soft butter
  • 250g good dark chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa solids) chopped into small pieces
  • 60ml hot water (from a recently boiled kettle)
  • 284ml double cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Nigella wrote: "When you haven't got time for overnight setting or you don't want to use raw eggs, this mousse is perfect."

The chef starts by putting marshmallows, butter, chocolate and water in a heavy-based saucepan.

Next Nigella puts the saucepan on the hob to melt the contents, slowly stirring every now and again. Once melted, leave to cool.

The food expert whips the cream with the vanilla extract until thick and folds into the cool chocolate mixture.

Finally, Nigella pours the mixture into 4 glasses or 6 small ones and leaves to chill. There you have it!

Previously, the TV chef posted a recipe for the "best chocolate cake ever".

She originally shared the method and ingredients for Halloween but you can bake it when you like.

On her website, Nigella explained the frosting of her cake is "softer, stickier than [what] you may be used to".
