Prince William is second in line to the throne and, at 39, he’s been in the public eye for a very long time indeed.

The Duke of Cambridge has performed hundreds of royal engagements and official duties, and he also supports over 30 charities and military organisations.

As well, Prince William trained as an officer and pilot in the military, and often entertains people at dinners, lunches, receptions and garden parties.

William is big on supporting communities to protect the natural environment for future generations and through the Royal Foundation, The Duke has founded United for Wildlife.

There’s no doubt William has a lot of strings to his bow, and he’s often very busy with his many different projects, but how much is he worth?

Prince William doesn’t have a ‘citizen’ job, so where does a royal’s income come from? Let’s take a look…

What is Prince William’s net worth?

Prince William’s net worth is estimated to be £30 million – a figure which is only set to increase as he moves up the royal ranks.

The Duke is believed to have inherited over £20 million from his late mother Princess Diana and £7 million from his great-grandmother the Queen Mother.

How does he earn money day to day? Well, the royals have a Sovereign Grant which supports the royals' official duties.

There’s also the Duchy of Cornwall, which is a private family estate that funds the public, private and charitable activities for William.

Prince William will inherit money from his grandmother the Queen and Prince Charles too, which means he’ll receive the Duchy of Cornwall and a range of other properties owned by his family.

The Duke of Cambridge will also inherit the monarch's fortune when he becomes King, too which includes over £7 million worth of property, the Royal Art collection and a fixed salary from the British government estimated to be around £10 million.

The Queen’s net worth is estimated to be at around £350 million.

The Queen’s day-to-day income comes as a result of the sovereign grant, which The Sunday Times reported to be £82.2 million in the latest accounts.

Last year, The Times Rich List for 2020 revealed that she was worth £20 million less than she was in 2019.

In 2019, the Queen’s estimated net worth was said to be £370 million, and while the impact of the coronavirus pandemic has touched many Britons, the Queen’s net worth took a hit as a result of maintenance costs.

Buckingham Palace underwent renovations in 2019, costing a whopping £14.1 million, while a further £5.5 million has reportedly been spent on maintaining other properties the Queen has in her portfolio.

As well as this, some staterooms have reportedly not been redecorated since 1952, which is when the Queen first came to the throne.
