Speedboat killer hires former model lawyer who was on Georgia’s Strictly
Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd will be represented by a £15k former model lawyer – who was once on Georgia’s Strictly.
The 31-year-old could today fight extradition despite handing himself into police after months on the run.
He has hired by glamorous lawyer Mariam Kublashvili who once appeared on Georgia’s version of the hit BBC One show.
Yesterday, she said: “We may request not to extradite Jack Shepherd. We do not have the right documentation yet.”
Shepherd will appear in court at 9am today for preliminary extradition proceedings.
The 31-year-old was sentenced to six years in jail for the manslaughter of Charlotte, 24.
He was convicted in his absence at the Old Bailey in July.
It is believed he had been hiding in Tbilisi since March before giving himself up this week.
Kublashvili has insisted she is not being paid with British legal aid and is being funded privately by Shepherd.
The celebrity lawyer rose to stardom in Georgia in 2014 when she appeared on The Stars Are Dancing.
She also once appeared in a Martini Royale casting video.
Her most famous case was when defencing Temirlan Machalikashvili’s family – a man allegedly linked to ISIS.
According to the Daily Mail , she runs her own law firm and has already won several tough cases.
In the Martini casting video she introduced herself as a 27-year-old lawyer.
She explained: "I am lawyer by profession. Established my own company with a big staff which is very successful and I do women’s rights.
"I want to show the whole world the real way to success, hard work, the value of time.
"I think that success and luck can be achieved by the person who seeks for necessary possibilities and opportunities. For example, if I don’t find them I create them myself. Luck is not coming from the sky."
