Surprising use for tomato ketchup revealed – but it’s making people feel sick
Traditionally, tomato ketchup is used as an accompaniment to a meal, with people choosing to cover their chips with it or spread it onto a bacon roll.
But did you know it could also be used in a very different way?
According to a popular life hacks and tips account on Instagram , the red sauce could also help you give your house a good clean.
And while some people were pleasantly surprised to discover this, many were disgusted by the revelation and said it made their stomachs churn.
The hack was shared on the @Blossom social media account and has had over 700,000 views.
It features several different ways food items can be used to clean and polish dirty things in the home.
For instance, a rusty wrench submerged in a glass of beer comes out good as new, a potato dipped in salt removes grime from a saucepan and Kool Aid makes a gross toilet sparkle.
But there was one tip in the video that really divided the account’s followers.
They showed tomato ketchup being used to breathe new life into a dull, disgusting looking sink.
In the video, someone can be seen squirting a generous amount of tomato sauce into their hands, before rubbing it onto the bottom of the sink.
They cover the entire area in the ketchup, before leaving it to sit for about 10 minutes.
Then as they rinse the sauce off with water, it soon becomes clear that the surface underneath is now incredibly clean.
Many of Blossom’s followers found it hard to watch the unusual hack without feeling sick.
One person said: "I would feel disgusted if I put so much ketchup in my hand and started rubbing it in my dirty sink."
Another wrote: "Am I the only one who almost threw up when she put her hand in the sink and put ketchup in her hand?"
A third added: "When she rubbed the ketchup in the sink I was just cringing so bad."
"It’ll be a cold day in hell before I rub ketchup onto a crusty a** sink with my bare hands," posted a fourth.
