Emma Taylor, creator of Australian weight loss program 123Diet, has brought the dark secrets of these seasonal snacks to light.
She has revealed how long people need to do certain kinds of physical activity to work off Christmas meals such as turkey and roasted potatoes.

The Christmas turkey with all the trimmings
The roast turkey is usually the centerpiece of the Christmas dinner table. While by itself a lean roasted turkey is good for you, adding trimmings and other traditional toppings is where the calories will start to sneak up on you.
According to Emma a 90 gram serving of turkey breast roasted with the skin has approximately 149 calories.
‘Now that doesn’t seem like a lot, but you’re not going to eat that turkey dry, right? A serving of brown gravy has about 79 calories,’ she said.
‘No gravy for you? How about some cranberry sauce that is another 151 calories per serving.
Whatever your preferred way of enjoying this tasty traditional dish is, you are looking at upwards of 300 calories from one serving alone.
Emma said to burn this off people will need to do 46 minutes of cycling or 30 minutes of running or 1.8 hours of cleaning

Apple cider is always great to have with your Christmas dinner, but it is very hard to have just one. Tread lightly when enjoying this classic Christmas refreshment.
To work each bottle of apple cider people will need to complete either 35 minutes of cycling, 23 minutes of running or 1.4 hours of house cleaning.
Roast potatoes are the perfect complement to any main course yet one serving of these delicious spuds contains about 267 calories.
It is tasty side dishes like this that really do not help when trying to keep your calorie count low.
In order for people work off this dish it would take them 41 minutes of cycling, 27 minutes of running and 1.6 hours of Christmas shopping.

‘This should come as no surprise, but a 115 gram wedge of Chrissie pudding (without cream or custard) contains a whopping 333 calories!’ She said.
‘Traditionally, Christmas pudding is a desert, so that means you are adding those 333 calories on to whatever else you already had for the actual dinner.’
To work this dish off people would need 51 minutes of cycling, 34 minutes of running or two hours of cleaning.
Fruit mince pie
The mince pie is undoubtedly a staple of Christmas indulgence.
‘Dating as far back as the Crusades, they were originally made with a rather meaty combination of mutton and dried fruits,’ Emma explained.
‘A supermarket fruit mince pie tends to contain about 208 calories per serving.’
This dish is most likely served after the main course and too much fruit mince pie will definitely result in tipping the scales.
According to Emma to work off an innocent looking fruit mince pie people would need to complete either 31 minutes of cycling, 21 minutes of running or 1.2 hours of cleaning.
