This Morning: Alice Beer is mocked for life hacks segment

Life hack demonstration is mercilessly mocked by This Morning viewers for its VERY obvious tips – including using hemming tape and spraying clothes to keep them fresh

  • The presenter shared life hacks, including Wonder web, with Phil and Holly 
  • One hack showed how you could swap eggs in a cake mixture for a fizzy drink
  •  Other included hacks for drying nails and even refreshing dirty clothes  

TV presenter Alice Beer shared a selection of ‘life hacks’ on ITV’s This Morning today, but Twitter fans weren’t impressed with the somewhat retro tips.

Among Alice’s suggestions, which were designed to save time, was using Wonderweb instead of sewing up a hem by hand.

She also showed hosts Holly and Phil how to use a spray to refresh clothes to save time, and how to dry your painted nails quicker.

The segment began with Watchdog star Alice confessing that she never finds the time to sew up her children’s school skirts, so she regularly uses hemming tape instead.

Alice used a new deodorant for clothes on a day old jumper, which she said left it smelling fresh – however This Morning viewers at home were far from impressed by the retro hack

Fans of the show mocked This Morning for using hacks which were were known already or a little weird. Many were shocked by the hack for replacing eggs with Coca Cola

But Twitter mocked the life hack for being old, with one saying: ‘Is there anyone watching #ThisMorning who didn’t already know about Wonderweb?’ 

While another said: ‘My Mum ‘wonder webbed’ my uniform and I’m 52. Hardly a new product.’

Holly and Phil were genuinely shocked, but after eating a slice of Alice’s cake both said that despite it tasting a little sweeter, it was still edible.

While her nail drying tips, which included using quick dry sprays and placing your nails into cold water, were mocked too

It provoked a mixed reaction among fans, with one saying: ‘I’m not being funny Alice but I would have eggs in the kitchen before I had fizzy drinks.’ 

However, others couldn’t believe that they hadn’t heard about the hack before. 

One shocked viewer tweeted: ‘#ThisMorning just showed me how to make a cake-mix with a can of coke replacing eggs – what a #lifehack’

While another said: ‘My mind is blown! You can use diet coke instead of eggs to bake cakes!I Did not know that but have just seen it on #ThisMorning.’

Others hacks included refreshing clothes with a new deodorant for clothes, which some thought was a weird concept, one tweeted: ‘Ewww wearing clothes out of a dirty laundry basket.’

While her nail drying tips, which included using quick dry sprays and placing your nails into cold water, were mocked too. A fan simply tweeted: ‘Cold water does not dry nails.’
