Christmas is a magical time that you get to spend with your beautiful kids and loving family members — or so the story goes.
On the most recent episode of “Saturday Night Live,” Matt Damon and Cecily Strong parody how hectic Christmas days actually can be for parents in a skit titled “Best Christmas Ever.”
Damon and Strong sit cozily on the couch as husband and wife, sipping on a glass of wine and reflecting on the remarkable Christmas day they had.
“That was the best Christmas ever,” Damon says with comical confidence. “I had a smile on my face from the moment I woke up.”
And how could you not have an amazing start to your Christmas day when your screaming, hyper kids wake you up by jumping on your bed at 5:40 a.m.?
Strong enthusiastically agrees with her TV husband, but her flashback of the day shows her looking stressed out as her kids open Christmas presents.
The rest of the skit continues on in the same fashion. The parents’ relive their Christmas day with perfect commentary, but their flashbacks tell a different story. One filled with complaining and critical in-laws, uncomfortable arguments about politics at the dinner table, snot-nosed children and horrible gifts.
