We have been together seven years and it feels like he will never propose – The Sun
DEAR DEIDRE: I WANT to die of embarrassment when people ask when I’m getting married.
I’ve been with my boyfriend for seven years and we don’t even live together.
I’m 34 and he’s 36. I’m beginning to worry I’m wasting my life. We both decided to move to a city near his parents but away from my family and friends.
I found a flat and moved into it, he moved back in with his mum and dad. When I try to talk to him about us being together on a more permanent basis, he changes the subject or we end up arguing.
Our relationship is good apart from his lack of commitment but I am fed up of his empty promises.Should I cut my losses now?
DEIDRE SAYS: If you love him, give him an ultimatum.
Explain that you want to see how you could get along living together and give him a time limit, a month or two, for him to make the move to be with you.
If he doesn’t, then you may have to accept he’s not the right man for you.
My e-leaflet When Your Man Won’t Commit will help you understand what’s probably going on for him.
